چکیده

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy using a composite mesh is a technique gaining more recognition for management of pelvic floor disorders such as full thickness rectal prolapse, obstructive defecation symptoms and vaginal vault prolapse. A recent Cochrane review concluded that laparoscopic rectopexy results in fewer postoperative complications and an earlier discharge1 over open methods.2 We describe a novel technique for preparation of the mesh.

The behaviour of knots and sutures during the first 12 hours following a Bankart repair.

It has been reported that the effectiveness of arthroscopic procedures in terms of preventing recurrent dislocation has not matched that from open techniques. Also little is known about how these knots behave when exposed to physiological loading following repair. This study presents the development of a practical tool to allow surgeons to test the quality of their arthroscopic knots and allow ...

Biomechanical comparison of four sliding knots and three high-strength sutures: Loop security is much different between each combination.

There are many types of sliding knots and suture materials used in arthroscopic surgery. The purposes of this study are (i) to evaluate the loop security of standard sliding knots when using different types of high-strength suture materials and (ii) to compare the loop security of a new sliding knot (Chula knot) to other standard sliding knots. Four configurations of sliding locking knots (West...

Initial loop and knot security of arthroscopic knots using high-strength sutures.

PURPOSE There are many options for arthroscopic knots including the type of knot and suture material used. The current investigation evaluated knot properties using 3 high-strength suture materials tied in 5 common arthroscopic knot configurations. METHODS Four arthroscopic sliding knots including the Roeder, Weston, SMC, and Tennessee Slider and an arthroscopic nonsliding Surgeon's knot were...

Performance Comparison of a Pretied Suture Knot With Three Conventional Arthroscopic Knots.

PURPOSE To compare the knot characteristics of a pretied suture knot with 3 of the most commonly used arthroscopic knots tied with various high-strength sutures. METHODS Three commonly used arthroscopic knots (surgeon's knot, Seoul Medical Center, and Duncan loop) tied with no. 2 high-strength sutures were compared with a pretied knot secured with either 1, 2, or 3 reversed half hitches (RHAP...

Arthroscopic knots: determining the optimal balance of loop security and knot security.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal knot configuration that maximized both knot and loop security when tied with 2 different types of nonabsorbable, braided suture. TYPE OF STUDY In vitro biomechanical study. METHODS Six commonly used arthroscopic sliding knots (Duncan loop, Nicky's knot, Tennessee slider, Roeder knot, SMC knot, Weston knot) with and without a ser...
